Altamont Motorsports Park, LLC was formed in 2006 by John Condren, Chairman and CEO of Riverside Motorsports Park, LLC (Merced County, CA) as the operating company for the historic Altamont raceway that opened originally in the early 1960s. The acquisition's sole objective was to secure a future for the famed California short-track at a time when many other California tracks were being closed, most because rising property valuables were making track real estate attractive and valuable for commercial development.
Operating today as an independent company, Altamont Motorsports Park continues to foster the operating tenets established by its founder:
- Motorsports is a family-oriented sport, and facilities must welcome and be appropriate for families
- Motorsports events are provided for the fans and motorsports has become the worlds #1 spectator sport because of the fans
- Facilities and operations must support well-run, safe events for drivers and teams
- Motorsports provides opportunities for youth-focused programs that teach safe driving and also provide professional driving opportunities to
develop tomorrow’s champions
- Motorsports facilities support local economies through employment, tourism and business development
- Motorsports is proud to be a corporate citizen in the communities it serves
